  • Chamotte: The Pottery Collective 58 Hoheluftchaussee Hamburg, HH, 20253 Germany (map)

Join us for a 2-day workshop (approx. 5 hours total) where you'll learn the fundamentals of wheel throwing and create your own set of ceramic pieces. This course is perfect for both complete beginners and those who want to solidify their knowledge and improve their skills. This workshop is guided by our talented Ewelina from Viosna Ceramics.

2 meetings | 5 hours | 4-6 Participants | 230 € | Materials, Tools, Firings, Snacks & sips incl.

What You'll learn:

Day 1:

  • Introduction to pottery and wheel throwing theory (+ the drying process).

  • Clay preparation and wedging: why and how to wedge your clay for optimal results.

  • Throwing basics: start with a simple cylinder, then reshape it into your desired form—be it a cup, bowl, or vase.

  • You’ll have the time to create multiple pieces, focusing on mastering the technique rather than quantity.

  • End the session by preparing your work for slow drying and learning how to maintain a clean and organized workspace.

Day 2:

  • Learn the secrets of trimming: refine your pieces with hand tools and the wheel to achieve a perfect look.

  • Explore various trimming tools and techniques to achieve the best results for your design.

  • Add handles and textures to personalize your creations.

  • Trim and refine as many pieces as you wish, then select three pieces for firing.

  • Choose between having us glaze your pieces or glazing them yourself in an optional third meeting.

Day 3 (Optional, 50€):

  • At least two weeks after Day 2, join us to learn about glazes and glazing techniques. This hands-on session will allow you to glaze your pieces before their final firing.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and advanced participants.

Clay and firings are included in the workshop cost. You can purchase this workshop online, or contact us to register and we will send you an invoice.
