I AM A BEGINNER

To do ceramics independently and safely, understanding clay, glazes, and studio tools is key.

That's why our Introduction Month is essential.
For just 230 €, you get a month-long training, preparing you to join our community.

  • three x 3H meetings

  • 2H supervised practice

  • Pottery Essentials
    to become an Independent Potter

Handbuilding
Wheel-Throwing
Practicing | Glazing | Maintenance

The Introduction Month is designed to teach you the whole process of pottery making. You’ll gain essential knowledge and skills to independently practice at the pottery studio. This course isn't intended to teach advanced skills in any specific technique but rather provides a foundation to all areas of pottery.

 Here’s what you'll learn:

Recognize different types of clay
Fundamentals of Hand Building and Wheel Throwing
• Understand various pottery techniques and when to use them
• Learn the stages of drying, (what is leather-hard, bone-hard)
• Identify when a piece is ready for bisque or glaze firing
• What is slip, underglaze, pigment and glaze
Glazing, including types of glazes and glazing techniques
• Use various tools and maintain cleanliness at workstations

 -

The Introduction Course is not meant to create beautiful masterpieces.
It is about understanding the whole process of creating a piece, and how to do it the correct way. Be aware that by making mistakes in any step of the process, you can damage your piece, the pieces of the other Members (for example during the firing), as well as cause expensive damage to the Studio's materials and equipment. As a Collective we build a community relying on each other. :)

Once you know the basics about the process - you'll slowly improve your skills. Pottery requires time, but gives back a ton of satisfaction.

-

The Introduction Month is simply a starting point for creation and continuous learning.

Pottery is a lifelong journey.
